Hays and Abilene both canceled school due to extreme low temperatures and wind chill forecasted for Tuesday morning. The schools however decided to continue with their scheduled games on Tuesday night in Abilene
Girls
Hays 38 - Abilene 22
Five first half three pointers by Hays High propelled the Indians to a 20-9 halftime lead. The five three tied a season high for a game which the Indians had done three time prior. They would end the game with a season high seven made three pointers.
Abilene led 7-2 through the first three minutes of the game. The remainder of the first quarter belonged to the Indians on a 15-0 run.
Highlights
Points would be hard to come by for both teams over the second and third quarters. The Indians outscored the Cowgirls 8-6 during the 16 minute span.
Coach Len Melvin
The Indians were never threatened in the fourth pushing their lead up to 19 and settling for a 38-22 victory.
Jersey Johnson led the Indians with 11 points. Seven different players scored for Hays.
Hays improves to 6-11 on the year. Abilene drops to 3-12.
Boys
#1 Hays 59 - #10-4A Abilene 45
Hays scored on their first possession and proceeded to lead through the entire first half by no less than three points. The Indians scored the first six points before Abilene made a three pointer at 6-3 over two minutes into the game. Hays closed the first quarter on a 11-4 run to grab their first double digit lead at 17-7.
Hays would push their lead to 13 twice in the second quarter and had the ball each time but never expanded the advantage. The Cowboys cut the lead down to 29-20 at halftime.
Highlights
The Indians scored on the first possession of the second half and set the tone for a second half that Hays led by double figures for most of. The Indians led at the end of three quarters 42-31. Hays led by as many as 16 in the fourth quarter on their way to 59-45 victory.

The Indians lead wire to wire in moving to 17-0. Abilene drops to 8-5. Jace Linenberger led three in double figures at 23 points. Dalyn Schwarz added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Carson Kieffer dropped in 10 points. Abilene was led by Kaleb Becker's 17 points.
Hays heads back on the road Friday and resumes Western Athletic Conference play in Garden City. There will be no video stream on Hays Post per league agreement.
