TOPEKA–The 2024 Rally for Medicaid Expansion will take place at the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka on Wednesday, March 6. Kansans from all over the state are invited to attend.

Governor Laura Kelly will be the headline speaker at the rally, which will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor rotunda of the Kansas Statehouse. Attendance is open to anyone, and attendees are also encouraged to meet with their elected representatives while at the Statehouse. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP on the Alliance website to stay up-to-date with the latest information.

Free buses will be available to take people to the Statehouse, with one bus coming from Kansas City and another from Wichita, with stops in North Newton and Emporia. Those interested in riding the bus should reserve their spot online or by calling (785) 861-7891. Space is limited.

The Kansas House has not held a public hearing on KanCare expansion since 2017; the Kansas Senate since 2020. Legislative leaders have said that they will hold public hearings in both Chambers this year, though no dates have yet been announced.

A poll released by the Sunflower Foundation last week confirmed that a majority of Kansans support Medicaid expansion, including 78% of informed voters and 83% of small business owners.
