Hays led after the first quarter 13-12 but never regained the advantage after falling behind in the second. Millwood used a 12-4 run to take the lead for good. The Indians cut the deficit down to four on a pair of occasions in the second quarter but never drew any closer.
Millwood took an eight point lead into the locker room and added to that lead until they took a 45-30 advantage. The Indians cut the deficit down to ten several times in the fourth but could not get any closer falling 70-55.
Jack Weimer scored 20 for a second consecutive game making 13 of 14 free throws. Dawson Ruder scored a career high 14. Izaac Fox had 10 rebounds. Millwood put four in double figures.
Hays falls to 1-2 and will host Manhattan on Tuesday. Millwood improves to 3-1.

Olathe West 60, Hays 34
Olathe West never trailed as they use an 11-0 run in the first quarter to grab control of the championship game winning 60-34. Hays had the ball twice when the game was tied at four but couldn't take the lead.,
West built their lead to 20 in the second quarter before heading into the locker room with a 31-13 lead.
Hays outscored West by two in the second half but never could make a push to close the gap.
Hays ends the Shootout with a 2-1 record and will host Manhattan on Tuesday. Manhattan also went 2-1 in Hays. Olathe West is 3-0 and claims their first Shootout championship after two prior runner-up finishes.
Molly Martin led the Indians with 15 points. Tournament MVP Emma Sales scored 26 in the title game, just four points from the championship game record.
