KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City Royals announced today they have claimed left-handed pitcher Connor Thomas off waivers from the Athletics and optioned him to Triple-A Omaha. Thomas was designated for assignment last Saturday.
Thomas, 28, began the season in the Braves organization and made 2 relief appearances over two big league stints with Atlanta. He was claimed off waivers by the Athletics on July 30 and was designated for assignment two days later.
In 17 appearances (2 starts) this season in the minors with High-A Rome and Triple-A Gwinnett, Thomas went 2-1 with 1 save and a 2.09 ERA (9 ER in 38.2 IP).
He was selected by St. Louis in the 5th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia Tech,, and pitched in the Cardinals organization through 2024, when he was selected by Milwaukee in the Rule 5 Draft. Thomas made the Brewers Opening Day roster in 2025 and pitched in 2 games before being placed on the Injured List.
