
Glen Ray Strevey, 85, passed away at home on January 23, 2022. He was
born on September 24th, 1936, in Decatur County to Guy and Leta
(McConnell) Strevey.
Glen grew up on the family farm south of Norcatur. He worked
summers on the farm and on custom cutting harvesting crews traveling
across the United States. Glen was active in sports and graduated from
Norcatur High School in 1954. He married his high school sweetheart and
lifelong best friend, Carolyn Johnson on February 3, 1956, in Boulder,
Colorado.
Glen attended the University of Kansas, School of Engineering,
graduating in 1960. He landed his first engineering job with Honeywell
in Minneapolis, MN then took a new job in Huntsville, AL supporting the
nations race to the moon, working with early pioneers in rocket space
technology. In 1964 the family settled in Boulder, Colorado where Glen
worked for Ball Aerospace for several decades. He traveled the world for
Ball and as VP he led the satellite division and established the
antenna division. In 1991 he retired from Ball and returned to his roots
in farming. He expanded his farm over three decades. Glen loved to
spend time with his family, while pursuing his hobbies of hunting,
camping, gardening and woodworking. He was an avid snooker player and
owned the original snooker table in Norcatur. He was a consummate
problem solver.
Glen is survived by his brother Robert (Kay) Strevey, his children
Greg (Diane) Strevey, Dan (Jana) Strevey, Lisa Peters and Tom (Carolyn)
Strevey, 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Glen was
preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Leta and his wife of 64 years,
Carolyn.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29th 2022 at
Pauls Funeral Home Oberlin, KS. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00
p.m. Friday, January 28th, 2022 at Pauls Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Norcatur Cemetery. The memorial contributions may be made to the
