Luella 'Lou' Faye Beemer

Luella “Lou” Faye Beemer, 75, of Sterling, died January 30, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born January 14, 1947, in Scott City, to Lyle R. “Skeeter” and Vera M. (Schmidt-Hasz) Marker.

Lou graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965. She was twice retired: working at Southwestern Bell/ATT for 28 years, starting on the corkboard and retiring as a customer service representative, and then in Central Supply at Hutchinson Hospital. Lou was currently working as a clerk in the Parks Department for the city of Hutchinson.

She enjoyed taking classes at the Delos V. Smith Senior Center and was an avid shopper. Lou loved horseback riding and being “Grandma” to many children besides her own. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and was active in many ministries of the church.

On September 3, 1978, Lou married Al Beemer in Cotopaxi, CO. He survives.

Also surviving are: her daughters, Kelly Freeman (Wade Flemming) of Andover, Kimberly Shelburn (John) of Haysville, Misty McCulley (Aaron) of Clearwater; grandchildren, Nicholas Knapp (Bethany), Rickie Kelley, Dakota Day, Kyndel Mooningham (Austin), Joshua Shelburn, Preston Shelburn, Noah Shelburn, Isabella Shelburn, Levi Shelburn; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Claudia Easter of Port Richey, FL, Connie Hawver of Hutchinson, Larry Buckbee (Almira) of Wichita; sister-of-the-heart, Kay Nagy of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Beverly Barker.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Riverside Baptist Church, 1100 W. 21st Ave., Hutchinson. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
