PHILLIPSBURG – The TMP-Marian girls qualified four individuals and one relay, the boys qualified two individuals and a relay to next week’s 3A state track and field meet.
The Monarch girls finished in fourth place at Thursday’s Phillipsburg 3A regional while the boys finished seventh. Smoky Valley won the girls team title and Southeast of Saline the boys.
Senior Kassidi Yost led the Monarch girls, qualifying in three events. Yost won the high jump, was on the third-place 4x100 meter relay team and finished fourth in the 200 meters.
Shalee Gottschalk and Emma Basgall both qualified in two events. Gottschalk won the 100 meter hurdles, Basgall finished third in the long jump. Both are also on the 4x100 relay.
Tessa Wentling was TMP’s other state qualifier after a second place finish in the high jump.
Kade Harris qualified in four events for the TMP boys. He finished third in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 and long jump and was on the second place 4x100 meter relay team.
Jace Wentling was also on the relay and finished second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump to qualify in three events.
