Wilda Jean Jantz

Wilda Jean Jantz, 86, departed this life on July 22, 2021, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas.

She was born March 10, 1935, in Utica Kansas, the daughter of Hubert Wayne and Alice Amelia Lohoff Deighton.

An area resident since 1980, she was a Mental Health Aide at Larned State Hospital. She was a member of the Larned United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Dodge City Boot Hill Bells, Beta Gamma Sorority, and the Rebekah Lodge where she was the youngest to hold the honor of Noble Grand. She loved to visit and treasured her time with family and friends. Wilda truly loved her pets, especially her cats and dogs.   Playing cards, gardening, bird watching, cooking, baking, and traveling were her favorite past times.

On April 26, 1985, she married the love of her life, Bruce Jantz, at Miami, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on April 2, 2008.

Survivors include: two daughters, Pamela (Kenny) Adams, Pueblo West, Colorado, Lisa (Randy) Jacobs, Scott City; step daughter, Leann (Kevin) Simmons, Larned; step son, Mark Jantz, Garden City; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Racquel) Jacobs, Azure (Aaron) Miller, Tara (Shane) Dohrmann, Nick (DeDe) Adams; six step grandchildren, Ty (Allisa) Racette, Brandon Racette, Michael (Emily) Racette, Chad (Molly) Simmons, Christa (Mike) Reed, Brett (Tonya) Simmons; fourteen great grandchildren: Micah, Judah, Lily, Elijah, Kohen, Kinley, Kade, Kase, Connor, Coulter, Zoe, Brekston, Bentley, Briley; and seven step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Bobby Deighton, and a great grandson, Keaton Miller.

Memorial graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at Larned Cemetery with Jeremy Jacobs, presiding. Inurnment will be in Larned Cemetery.
