The Kansas CARES program, which offers free assistance to Kansas residents enrolling in healthcare coverage through the federal marketplace, has recently become aware of an error resulting in HaysMed being inaccurately listed as an in-network healthcare provider under United Healthcare on the federal marketplace.
Kansas CARES wants to assure residents that there is still time to make changes to their plans, ensuring an in-network provider that is right for them. Our statewide program of Navigators stands ready to assist residents in fixing this error for anyone who enrolled in the United Healthcare insurance plan incorrectly assuming that HaysMed would be an in-network provider.
Applicants must enroll by Jan. 16 to ensure coverage for 2024.
Call local navigators or go to WWW.KANSASCARES.ORG for additional contact information.
As we believe this situation will create a larger number of people needing assistance, we are doing everything we can to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to update their plan.
Navigators can meet with residents in person, via Zoom, or over the phone.
Consumers with further questions should contact Rhonda Culp, Thrive Allen County’s director of care coordination, by calling Thrive’s office at 620-365-8128. Thrive Allen County oversees the statewide Kansas CARES program.
Local non-profits who are part of the Kansas CARES program and are available to assist include Livewell Northwest Kansas, Liberal Area Coalition for Families, Barber County United, Impact Ulysses, Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation, and Grow Clay County.
Other Kansas CARES participants include Thrive Allen County, El Centro, Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, Vibrant, and Urban League of Kansas.
