TOPEKA – Hays High will be the No. 5 seed at the KSHSAA Class 5A State Baseball Championship and open with Shawnee Heights at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 at Eck Stadium in Wichita.
The Indians (18-8) are coming off a pair of one-run victories over Salina South and Andover to win their own regional this past Wednesday at Leo-Harper Field.
This will be HHS’ 14th state tournament appearance and first since 2021 when they finished third.
The Thunderbirds (21-7) are the No. 4 seed and defeated Highland Park and De Soto in regionals. Shawnee Heights lost to 5-2 to Spring Hill in last year's state quarterfinals.
