WAKEENEY - The Plainville boys won five events and finished first at Thursday's Goldsmith Relays hosted by Trego Community High School. The Trego girls won three events and finished second behind Goodland.
Senior Riley Rogers led the Cardinals with first place finishes in the 1600 meters (4:50.28) and 800 meters (2:10.31). Rogers finished second in the long jump (19-9.50 behind teammate Davyn Willeford who won the event with a leap of 20-2.25. Willeford placed second in the triple jump (41-1.75).
Eric Mackey won the high jump (5-10). Tucker Rudman won the discus (149-10) and placed second in the shot put (48-5.75). Ryan Hamel was second in the discus (137-5).
First place finishers for the Trego girls included Tegan Lang in the 100 (16:46), freshman Olivia Hober in the 800 (2:24.18) and freshman Iyslee Wilson in the triple jump (33-7.50).
TMP-Marian had two first place finishers. Sophomore Piper Simpson broke her own school record in the pole vault for a fourth time, clearing 11 feet. Jackson Gillespie won the boys 200 meters (22:67) and finished second in the 100 (10:99).
