SALINA - The Hays High girls cross country team left Bill Burke Park as team champions Saturday at the Salina Invitational. They finished 10 points better than Salina South and 19 better than Western Athletic Conference member Dodge City.
Arely Maldonado (18:57.30) and Brynn Kinderknecht (20:32.06) paced Hays in fifth and sixth place finished respectively.
Brenlynn Albers medaled in 12th and Julia Zadina was 16th.
Coming off a win in Junction City's meet the prior week, Elijah McCullough placed second for the HHS boys with a time of 16:22.42. Taevin Maupin finished 19th.
The Hays boys were sixth as a team.
The cross country teams will be in Great Bend on Thursday for the Western Athletic Conference meet. The regional meet is coming up on Saturday, October 21st.
