The high temperature in Hays Wednesday soundly broke the record for March 25.
According to the K-State Agriculture Research Center, the temperature soared to 98 degrees yesterday, easily surpassing the previous high of 89 degrees for March 25 set in 1989.
The three-day weather forecast calls for cooler daytime highs through Saturday with a red-flag warning today for favorable wildfire conditions.
A burn ban is also in effect for Ellis County.
