HAYS – Jace Wentling went 3-for-3, drove in four runs and scored three times to lead the TMP-Marian Monarchs 18U baseball team to a 14-4, four inning run-rule victory over the Salina Eagles Saturday night at the TMP-Field. The win came after the Eagles 9-1 win in game one.
Wentling's first inning single drove in the first of four Monarch runs in the in the first inning. The Monarchs (7-5) scored four more in the second then blew the game open with six in the third.
Nick Herrman allowed one run on two hits over three innings and picked up the win.
Salina scored three in the first to take control in game one. They added five more in the fourth then another in the sixth for the six-inning run-rule win.
The Monarchs were held to four singles. Drew Werth drove in TMP’s lone run in the second.
Mason Robbins allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts over three innings but suffered the loss.
The Monarchs play the Great Bend Chiefs Tuesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
