⛳ HHS, Dinkel win final WAC event of the season

DODGE CITY - The Hays High girls’ golf team placed three in the top-10 and easily won the Great Bend Invitational by 41 strokes over Garden City Tuesday. The victory also secured them a third-straight Western Athletic Conference team title.

The tournament, which was the final Western Athletic Conference event of the season, was played at the Dodge City Country Club due to the condition at the Stoneridge Country Club.

Katie Dinkel shot a 2-over-par 74 and was top medalist. Jaycee Oakley finished third with a 78, Lily Garrison placed fourth with an 83 and Claire Humphrey finished seventh with an 88.

Dinkel earned Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. She needed to beat Garden City's Ryann Warren and did by one stroke to take home the WAC top player honor by a half-point.

Jaycee Oakley and Abbie Norris were also on the All-WAC first team. Evyn Cox, Claire Humphrey and Lily Garrison are on the second team.

Indians head coach Mark Watts is the WAC Coach of the Year.

HHS golfs in regionals Monday at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.
