Robert K. “Bob” House, 89, McCracken, Kansas, died Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kansas.

Bob was born September 14, 1930, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Kenneth T. and Linda Marie (Wilson) House.  He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.   A 1948 graduate of McCracken High School, McCracken, Kansas, he was a farmer/stockman before his retirement. 

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post 59, both of McCracken, Kansas.  He was a former board member of the McCracken Public Library, and the Co-op; a former member of the McCracken Rural Water District, the McCracken EMTs, and the McCracken Fire Department.

He was a United States Army veteran.

On January 21, 1987, he married Caroline D. (Klee) Davis at Gage County, Nebraska.  She preceded him in death December 14, 1993.  

Survivors include:  one son, Bruce Davis (Susan), Emery, South Dakota; three daughters, Cheryl Werth (Allen), Hays, Kansas, Ellen Kershner (Bruce), Rush Center, Kansas, and Annette Chestnut (Tom), Headland, Alabama; one son in law, Donnie Schuckman, La Crosse, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, Stacy Scheetz (Jared), Melissa Thompson (Drew), Lisa Day, Matt Groff (Kelly), Kari Ragsdale (Donald), Brian Davis, Eric Davis, Clinton Kershner (Lisa), Clayton Kershner, Addie Caroline Kershner, Tyler Chestnut, Colby Chestnut, and Kaitlyn Caroline Chestnut; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Dight A. House (Leanore), Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Melissa J. Bowersock, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister in law, Addie Mills, McCracken, Kansas; and his nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Donna Schuckman; and one brother in law, Lee Bowersock.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas. 

Funeral service will be at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.  Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.  Because of the current challenges the world is facing at the present time, the funeral service and interment will be private, immediate family only. 

Social distancing is recommended. Masks are recommended. Due to Covid 19, if you have a fever, cough, or are not feeling well, please send condolences via the on line guestbook, or mail.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the McCracken Public Library, McCracken, Kansas, or the Rush County EMTs, or the donor’s choice.
