🤼‍♂️ Hays High's Meyers, Zimmerman remain No. 1 in latest KWCA poll

The Hays High boys wrestling team continues to have three boys and one girl ranked in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association poll which was released Tuesday.

Gavin Meyers continues to hold down the top spot in the 220 pound weight class. Meyers recorded four more pins over the weekend and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the upper weight divisions at the Rocky Welton Invitational hosted by Garden City HS. Harley Zimmerman remains fourth at 132 while Gavin Nutting dropped a spot to No. 5 at heavyweight.

Sarah Zimmerman remains No. 1 at 109 in 6-5A girls.

This past weekend's Mid-Continent League Tournament may have been a preview of the 3-2-1A State Tournament. The league has seven teams ranked this week. Hoxie is No. 1, Norton No. 2, Plainville No. 3, Oakley No. 4, Russell No. 5, Phillipsburg No. 8 and Hill City No. 9.

Plainville has four individuals ranked. Ben Hansen is second at 182, Logan Normandin third at 132, Kyle Werner fourth at 195 and Draxton Hovis fifth at 220.

Ellis has three ranked. Mason Younger is third at 120, George Crawford fifth at 160 and Mason Gottschalk fifth at 182.

Russell has two wrestlers ranked. Tyler Moresco is No. 1 at 195 and Jacob Windholz second at 145.
