Martina (Leiker) Rohr

Martina (Leiker) Rohr, age 95, was called home to God on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Main Street Manor, Russell, Kansas.

She was born January 11, 1927, in Munjor, Kansas, to Martin F. and Veronica (Pfannenstiel) Leiker.  She married Nickolas P. “Nick” Rohr on August 12, 1946, at Victoria, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on August 22, 2008.

Her childhood was spent on the farm outside of Munjor, and in her teen years she went to work in Kansas City in an egg factory as WWII started to help support our military soldiers.  In 1967 she went to work at the Russell Regional Hospital as a nurse’s aid.  Martina spent 25 years there helping to deliver babies, caring for new mothers and spoiling newborns in the nursery. She lived in Gorham, and the last seven years she has been a resident of the Main Street Manor.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella both of Gorham. Martina loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.  She attended many school activities, sports events, music concerts, grandparents day, and graduations.  Her love for God was shown in many ways by her devotion to the church, the D of I, and many other volunteered services over the years.  Martina was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, and great great grandma.

Survivors include her children, Mary Cline and husband, Chris, Gorham, KS; Rita Clenney and husband, Larry, Russell, KS; Delores Boettcher and husband, Paul, Russell, KS; her seven grandchildren; her 13 great grandchildren; her one great great grandchild; her sisters, Benita Rack, Anna Louise Dinkel, Aletha Hertel and Bernice Hammerschmidt.     

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Celestine Leiker, Clarence Leiker,  Wilfred “Bill” Leiker; her sisters, Kate Windholz and Agedia Windholz. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gorham, Kansas with Father Michael Elan officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Gorham, Kansas.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, and vigil service at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, both at St. Mary Church, Gorham, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday all at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gorham, Kansas.

The family suggest memorials payable to: St. Mary Catholic Church or St. Mary Cemetery Fund in care of the mortuary.
