Keith Robert Hertel, 62, passed away on August 20, 2021, in  WaKeeney, Kansas.  He was born on August 3, 1959, in Ransom, Kansas the son of Wilfred and Helen Hertel.

He was a lifetime resident of Ness County and attended both the Sacred Heart School and the Ness City High School.  He worked as a welder and repairman for Murfin Drilling and WWW Drilling both of WaKeeney. He married Laura Dreiling Jensen.  They were later divorced.

Keith is survived by is mother, Helen of Rossville, Kansas; two sisters, Diane VanGilder and her husband, Larry, of Topeka, Kansas and Janis Weyer of Barneston, Nebraska; four brothers, David Hertel and his wife, Jo, of Brandon, Mississippi, Jim Hertel and his wife, Holly, of Bazine, Kansas. Kevin Hertel and his wife, Jill, of Gibbon, Nebraska and Craig Hertel and his wife, Jenny, of Meridian, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service is planned and will be announced at a later date. 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Sacred Heart School.
