A grass fire broke out on Sunday in northern Ellis County.

Ellis County Assistant Fire Chief Lyle Pantle said the fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. on the east side of the 2300 block of Hyacinth, also known as 210th Avenue.

Pantle said the fire began at an estimated three acres but quickly spread due to shifting winds, ultimately burning more than 200 acres before crews contained it shortly after 10 p.m.

Pantle said 15 apparatus and multiple departments responded, including Catharine, Victoria, Munjor and Schoenchen.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
