Ellis County Fire Department
At about 1:05 p.m., the Ellis County Fire Deparment was paged to a grass fire in a ditch at Buckeye Road and Toulon Avenue.
While en route, more calls were received at dispatch about multiple fires. Once fire crews arrived on scene, multiple fires were located, one at the dispatched address and a second about 1.5 miles west on Buckeye Road
No obvious signs of an ignition source could be located.
Eight firefighters responded and extinguished both fires. Fire crews were supported by residents in the area with a water tank and buckets, as well as the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
A total of about one acre was burned.
