TOPEKA — The Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition (KBC) has distributed $10,000 in funding across fourteen local breastfeeding coalitions, including Ellis County.

Local breastfeeding coalitions should have the necessary resources to address the barriers faced by breastfeeding families. They understand their communities best and are closest to those who are most affected by the lack of breastfeeding support.

The following local breastfeeding coalition received funding from the KBC:

“More than 90% of families in Kansas choose to breastfeed,” said Stephanne Rupnicki, chair of the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition Board. “Breastfeeding matters—for the health of our babies, our parents, and our communities. We’re honored to work alongside local coalitions to build strong support systems so families feel seen, heard, and lifted up in their feeding journeys.”

With this award, Kansas is one step closer to realizing the long-term benefits of breastfeeding. Through meaningful collaborations with healthcare systems, providers, and public health professionals, and transformative community initiatives, these hardworking local breastfeeding coalitions lead the way to a healthier future.
