⚾ Larks rally late to knock off Outlaws

HAYS - One night after cruising to a blowout win, the Hays Larks needed to rally in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Colorado Springs Outlaws 9-7  Saturday night at Larks Park.

The Larks (22-6, 16-3, RMBL) rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 6-3 lead. The Outlaws answered with four in the eighth to retake the lead only to see the Larks score three in the bottom of the eighth.

The Larks used two singles and a hit by pitch to load the bases in the eighth then scored the game-tying run on a balk. Garrett Gruell drove in the final two runs on a double to center field.

Cpby Grimsley retired all three that he faced in the top of the ninth for the save. Sam Hendon allowed two earned runs on three hits over three innings and picked up the win.

Gruell had three of the Larks 12 hits and drove in three. Dylan Dreiling homered and drove in two, H Rosson also finished with two RBIs.

The Larks and Outlaws close out the three-game series Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. at Larks Park.
