ELKHART – The Ellis boys golf team qualified two individuals for next week’s 2A State Tournament. Mason Gottschalk shot a 14-over par 86 and tied for 10th place and sophomore Austin Carroll fired a 16-over 88 and tied for 13th.
Trego’s Tyler Malsam also qualified after a 12-over par 84 tied him for seventh place.
Hoxie’s Ashton Dowell won the individual title in a playoff over Hill City’s Dylan Budig. Both shot a 5-over 77 through the first 18 holes.
Hill City won the team title by two shots over Hoxie. The Ringnecks shot a 330. Ellis finished fifth with a 375.
The 2A State Golf Tournament is next Monday and Tuesday at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course.
