HAYS, Kan. – For the fifth time in the last nine meetings between the schools, Fort Hays State and Emporia State played to a draw on Sunday afternoon at the FHSU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers scored in the first half and Emporia State countered in the second half to create the 1-1 result. FHSU moved to 5-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in MIAA play. ESU moved to 3-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in MIAA play.

Fort Hays State scored its goal on a failed clearance by the Emporia State goalkeeper. Allison Worley cut in front of a ball struck by the keeper and had a wide-open net to score on in the 7th minute of action. Just over two minutes into the second half, Emporia State picked up the equalizer on a header in the box by Hadlie Lowe off an assist by Sade Lee.

Fort Hays State had several offensive opportunities late that went just off target, including a look in the final seconds that just went wide of the goal. The Tigers led in overall shot count 11-9. Mackenzie Caldwell made four saves in the match for FHSU compared to just one for Mackenzi Goen for ESU.
