HOLCOMB – The TMP-Marian softball team had their four-game winning streak snapped Thursday losing both ends of a doubleheader to Holcomb 10-0 and 2-1.
Game 1: Holcomb 10, TMP-Marian 0 (5 innings) The Longhorns used a six-run second to blow the first game open.. Holcomb then scored three in the fourth in the run-rule victory.
The Monarchs were held to five hits, two of them from Brynn Rebel and Brooke Koeningsman.
Rebel suffered the loss in the circle, allowing all 10 runs on 10 hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Game 2: Holcomb 2, TMP-Marian 1 The Monarchs scored a run in the third on an Hannah Rose single to left field which scored Raegan Allen and tied the game 1-1.
Holcomb took the lead with a two-out single in the sixth. The Monarchs got the tying run aboard in the seventh but back-to-back strikeouts ended the game.
Bria Windholz allowed one earned run on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Rose had two of the Monarchs five hits.
