The Ellis County Health Department on Wednesday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell slightly to five.

There were 15 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Monday. There are currently 60 active cases, including nine active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,604 recovered cases.
As of Wednesday, there were 16 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, up from 15 on Tuesday, with 10 of those active patients and six in the recovery phase.
The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell to 8.5 percent from more than 13 percent on Monday.
Since reporting began, there have been 3,664 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 70 coronavirus-related deaths.
