Jerald Lee “Jerry” Sterling passed away on January 27, 2021, at the Rooks
County Health Center in Hays, KS, at the age of 71. He was born on July
8, 1949, to Gabriel and Ruth (Hoyle) Sterling in Columbus, OH. Jerry
married Patricia Rogers on May 15, 1969, in Wichita, KS. They were
blessed with two children: Chad and Lori.
Jerry grew up in Ohio and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School
in Columbus. He served in the United States Airforce during Vietnam.
Jerry and Patty owned and operated 183 Lanes in Stockton for 25 plus
years up until retiring in 2014. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic
Church and the V.F.W.
Jerry enjoyed racing, refurbishing old classic cars, watching car
auctions, bowling, and coin collecting. He loved spending time with his
granddaughters. He was a hardworking and caring man. While he strived
for perfection in all that he did, he knew how to have fun and enjoy
life along the way. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will serve
as an inspiration to those who knew him… always do what you love, and
always love what you do.

Koester and husband John of Claflin, KS; brothers, Gabe Sterling and
