Anthony Matthew Knoll

Anthony Matthew Knoll, 93, of Norton, Kansas passed away March 22, 2021, at the Norton County Hospital. He was born May 18, 1927 in Portis, Kansas, to Wils and Celestis (Ulmer) Knoll.

Anthony served in the United States Army (Post War Germany). He married Joan Marie Meyers on August 15, 1951, at the Maple Grove Church in Norton, KS. Anthony grew up on the farm and continued to farm for years. He worked for KDOC for six years and had run his own roofing company. Anthony was a member of First United Methodist Church, Norton and Gideons International. He loved to sing in the First United Methodist Church Choir and the Barber Shop Chorus. In his spare time, Anthony enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Wils and Celestis; children, Teresa Haws and Ray Knoll and siblings: infant sister, Lucille, June (Wesley) Charlesworth, Ethel (Oscar) Herrick, Maxine (Alvin) Keaver, Ted (Erma) Knoll, Harvey (Mary) Knoll, and George Knoll. He is survived by his wife, Joan of the home; sons, Randy Knoll of Norton, KS and Stuart (Leigh) Knoll of San Antonio, TX; granddaughters, Ashley Knoll (Emmanuel) Ekochu of Lee’s Summit, MO and Amy (Larry) Tatum of Liberty, MO; sister, Dorothy (Lloyd) Alflin of Puyallup, WA; brother, Neil Hulbert of Dodge City, KS; son-in-law, Richard Haws of Bartlesville, OK and sister-in-law, Joyce Knoll of Ignacia, CO.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, March 26, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-7:00 pm Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, Norton. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm.
