Mama G’s took first place in the Battle of the Bierock at Oktoberfest, earning a score of 8.44 from a panel of five judges.

Lions Club placed second with 7.64, followed by Sigma Phi Epsilon with 7.4. The Local finished fourth, and TK’s BBQ placed fifth. Five bierocks were judged on texture, appearance, smell, taste and portability.

The judges were Ellis County Commissioner Michael Burgess, CVB marketing intern Chloe Ecord, Fort Hays State University representative Hugo Perez, Oktoberfest Committee member Tom Bird and Hays Mayor Mason Ruder.
