🤼‍♀️ Hays girls runner-up in Topeka

Topeka - Hays High finished runner-up at the Lady Vikes Invitational hosted by Topeka Seaman High School on Saturday. 

The Indians finished with 253 points. Washburn Rural, ranked sixth in 6A, won the event with an impressive 344 points. Hays is ranked tenth as a team in 5A in the most recent KWCA rankings. They finished 11.5 points ahead of the fifth ranked team, Emporia.

Lexi Barnett was the lone Hays wrestler to bring home the gold as she record a pin in each match that was contested at 155 pounds. 

Audrey Yarmer was runner-up at 105 pounds. At 120 pounds, Kenlee Vehige also finished in second place. She lost to 5A's number one ranked wrestler at the weight class in the finals.

Reese Vehige also made the final before falling in the finals at 140 pounds for second place. 145 pound wrestler, Timber Lovewell finished in second place. She is ranked sixth at the weight and defeated the fifth ranked wrestler in the semifinal match. 

Eleanor Stoffel was the fifth Hays wrestler to finish in second place. 

Emersyn Copper placed third at 100 pounds and Addison Nueberger finished the same at 125.

Crystal Walters placed fourth at 140 pounds as did Audrey Gutierrez at 170. 

Chloe Robben was fifth at 110 pounds. 

Hays High will host Liberal for a dual on Tuesday. They host the girls' side of the Prairie Classic on Saturday.
