NW Kansas woman injured after semi rear-ends SUV

PHILLIPS COUNTY —A Kansas woman was injured in an accident just before 3p.m. Monday in Phillips County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Kenworth Semi driven by William Clark Winters, 61, Kensington, was westbound on U.S. 36 seven miles east of U.S. 183.

The semi rear-ended a 2019 Chevy Traverse driven by Jari Lee Hunter, 64, Kirwin, who had traveled into the eastbound lanes due to construction and signaled to return to the westbound lanes just before the crash.

EMS transported Hunter to the hospital in Phillipsburg. Winters was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
