⛳ HHS's Oakley has top-10 finish at 5A state golf

SALINA – After Monday’s first round was delayed then ultimately postponed due to weather then darkness, the girls’ 5A State Golf Tournament was finished up Tuesday at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.

Hays High’s Jaycee Oakley earned All-State honors with a ninth-place finish. Oakley had her first round suspended due to darkness on Monday. She completed it Tuesday morning and shot a 7-over par 77 to advance to the second round where she fired an 82 for a 19-over par 159 total.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Ximena Sarinana won the individual title with a 2-over par 142. Andover’s Regan Dusenbery finished second with a 144 and Newton’s Naomi Koontz placed third with a 148.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel won the team title with a two-round 639, nine shots better than second place St. James Academy. St. Thomas Aquinas placed third with a 693.
