👟 HHS boys finish first, girls second in Abilene

ABILENE – The Hays High boys won six events and finished in first place at the Abilene Invitational track and field meet Friday. The girls won two events and finished in second place. The HHS boys scored 144 points, 24 more than second place Wamego. The girls scored 92 and finished 22 behind first place McPherson.

Harley Zimmerman won the pole vault (12-0), Kamani Jones won the triple jump (43-3), Bryce Salmans won the shot put (46-10) , Grayson Walburn the discus (141-11) and Wyatt Waddell the javelin (159-5). The 4x100 relay (43.85) also finished in first place.

The Indians had six second place finishes. Deondre Broom in the 100 meters (11.28). JW Perry in the 300 hurdles (42.89), Chason Venderwege in the high jump (6-0), Kyreese Groen in the long jump (21-5) and triple jump (42-9) and Grayson Walburn in the shot put (45-6.75).

Katie Linenberger won the girls high jump (5-4) and Halle Lohmeyer won the discus (117-0).

Lilian McGrath finished second in the long jump (17-0.75), Halle Lohmeyer was second in the shot put (35-7.25) and the 4x100 relay finished second (51.42).
