Roger Lee Archer, 76, of Almena, passed away April 23, 2021 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born Dec. 1, 1944 in Almena to LeRoy and Elnora (Jackson) Archer.

Roger grew up in Almena and was a 1962 graduate of Almena High School. He served for the U. S. Army during Vietnam. Roger married Joyce Fowler on Dec. 3, 1965 in Newport News, Va. and to that union they had three children.

He worked for over 20 years for Ideal Truck Line in Norton as the terminal manager and safety director until the company closed. After that he began working for New Age as the transportation manager until he retired after working for over 20 years.

Roger was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Veterans of Vietnam War. He was involved in his community through the Senior Center in Almena, where he was serving as the president.

Roger enjoyed taking his 1955 Chevy to car shows, and collecting clocks, watches, and coins. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Roger is survived by his children: Theresa and Scott Roe of Hays, Michelle Archer of Wichita, and Scott and Dawn Archer of Valley Center; brother, Lyle Archer of Norton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Art and Kathy Archer, Keith and Linda Archer, and Dorothy (Archer) Dawley and sister-in-law, Sandy Archer.

A visitation with viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home with cremation following.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, Norton. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Almena.
