McCOOK, Neb. – The Hays High track and field teams opened their seasons at the McCook Invitational Thursday. The Indian boys had three individual first place finishes and the girls two along with a winning relay.
Jordan Dale won the high jump, clearing 6’6”, Chason VenDerWege took the long jump with a leap of 21’5” and Grayson Walburn was champ in the discus with a throw of 135’11”.
Lilian McGrath brought home the gold medal in the girls long jump at 16’3 ½” and Katie Linenberger was part of a three-way tie for first in the high jump, clearing 5’0”. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Kacy Dinkel, Landri Dotts, Brooklynn Lewallen and Lilian McGrath finished first with a time of 52.59.
The Indians are back in Nebraska next Friday at the Kearney Invitational.
