🏃‍♀️ FHSU shines in three meets, secures array of provisional marks

The Fort Hays State University Track and Field team showcased their muscles in three recent meets, leaving a lasting impression with impressive performances and several provisional marks.

The men's team brought their A-game to the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic, with standout performances across various events. In the 60m Dash, Eddie McVay secured a second place finish with a swift time of 6.97 seconds. Dayton Williams dominated the High Jump, claiming second place with a height of 6-7.75, earning a provisional ranking. The Long Jump saw Dean Clark emerge victorious with a mark of 23-3.5, earning a provisional spot as well. In the field events, Brady Deges and Kurtis McCormick soared to second and third place in Pole Vault, both reaching 14-7.5. The Men's Heptathlon featured Nolan Churchman in fourth place with a total of 5326 points, showcasing his versatility across seven events.

The women's team demonstrated their skill and determination at the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic. Jayme Hagerman led the way, securing first place in both the Long Jump (18-1.75) and Triple Jump (37-9.5). Brenna Murphy dominated the 800m Run, clinching first place with a time of 2:33.71. Kaitlin Lindstrom soared to second place in Pole Vault with a height of 10-7.

The Boo Rodgers Combined Events saw FHSU athletes competing in heptathlons and pentathlons, further proving their mettle. Nolan Churchman claimed fourth place with an impressive total of 5326 points, showcasing his prowess across various disciplines. Taylor Savolt earned seventh place with 3661 points, displaying her strength in the 60H, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and 800m. Everyone earning a provisional mark who traveled for the Boo Rodgers Combined Events.

The FHSU men's team continued their success at the Crimson & Gold Invitational. Hayden Albright shone in the sprints, securing 19th place in the 60m Dash with a time of 6.88. Ethan Lang impressed in the 800m Dash, securing third place with a provisional time of 1:52.27. Jacob Clark soared to third place in Pole Vault with a height of 16-1.75, earning a provisional mark. Regan Hodsden showcased her dominance in the 5,000m Run, securing third place with an impressive time of 16:51.47, earning a Division II provisional mark.

The team will now have a break until after the holidays. The next meet will be hosted in Topeka for the Washburn Rust Buster on January 20th, 2024.2023 UNK Pre-Holiday Classic
