
Leona Washburn, 89, passed away on March 30, 2026, and went to her eternal reward in heaven. She was born December 1, 1936, to John and Amelia Ploeger in Collyer, Kansas. Leona grew up in Studley and graduated from Hoxie High School.
On July 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Delbert Washburn. While Leona held a variety of positions throughout her career, she found her greatest joy in a life of serving others.
Leona is survived by her sister, Jeannie Stillwell; three sons, John (Peggy) of Derby, Fred (Kandi) of Hoxie, and Mark (Cindy) of Hays; four grandchildren, Jennifer Watkins, Matthew (Katie) Washburn, Steve (Amber) Washburn, and Dustin (Emily) Washburn; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; four sisters, Viola Scott, Rosie Horton, Mary Long, and JoAnn Martin; and an infant son.
Visitation with the family present will be held Monday, April 6, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM.
