LILBURN, Ga. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team will open postseason competition as the 11th-ranked team in Division II, announced Tuesday by the WBCA.
The Tigers (24-4, 15-4 MIAA) dipped three spots after falling in their regular season finale, now with 314 points in the voting process after receiving 390 points last week. Fort Hays State is the only team playing in the MIAA Championship Tournament as a ranked team, with Central Missouri the only other league team receiving votes.
This is the sixth time the Tigers have been ranked No. 11 in the WBCA DII Coaches Poll. FHSU was ranked 11th twice last season, turning in a 3-1 record. The Tigers are 10-1 all-time when ranked 11th and 209-52 overall when ranked. FHSU has been listed in the WBCA Top 25 136 times, including each of the last 34 polls dating back to the start of last season.
The second-seeded Tigers will open play in the MIAA Championship Tournament Thursday (March 5, 2:15 p.m.) against either No. 7 Missouri Western or No. 10 Nebraska-Kearney.
