Larry Gene Stejskal, 89, Timken, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Aster Estates, Great Bend, Kansas.

Larry was born August 11, 1935, in Timken, Kansas, the son of Louis and Tona (Oborny) Stejskal.  He was a lifelong resident of Rush County.  He was a farmer before his retirement.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas, where he served on the parish council and was a former president of the same.  He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2100, Olmitz, Kansas.  He was a member of KD Workman, and a former member of the Mid-State Farmer’s Co-Op Board, the Timken Credit Union Board and Rush County Fire District #2, all of Timken, Kansas.  Larry was recognized as the Farmer of the Year by Young Kansas Farmer.   

Larry loved to bowl and was a member of a bowling team for many years.  He and his wife, Betty, enjoyed being members of a card playing club, playing both pitch and pinochle.  Their fondness of playing cards was something they shared with their children and grandchildren, who still enjoy a friendly game of cards when the family gathers.  Many a New Year’s Day was spent “winching” with family and friends.

On August 18, 1955, he married Betty L. Weichen at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Survivors include:  his wife, Betty Stejskal, Timken, Kansas; two sons, Rick Stejskal (Nette), Wilmington, Delaware, and Brian Stejskal (Kim), Bison, Kansas; three daughters, Roxane Orr (Kevin), Chanute, Kansas, Ginger Dodin (Bill), Junction City, Kansas, and Karen Mitchell (Mike), Ellinwood, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Wasson (Chad), Joe Vondracek (Shane), Cynthia Wimberly (Kevin), Chris Stejskal, Amanda Stejskal, James Dodin (Gelia), Nicole Stejskal, and Zach Stejskal (Taylor); and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward Stejskal, Leonard Stejskal, and Rudy Stejskal; an infant sister, Blanch Stejskal; and five sisters, Anna Hamrdla, Betty Richardson, Elsie McGrath, Eleanor Snellen,  and Irene Lou Laqua.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. 

Church visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 20, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Timken, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to Holy Cross Cemetery, Timken, Kansas.
