
Glenda Mae Moore, 89, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away on March 17, 2025. Glenda was born in WaKeeney, KS, on March 16, 1936, to Glenn and Eva (Hendricks) Beach. She graduated from Trego High School in 1954 and began studies for nursing at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, KS.
Glenda left nursing school to begin a family. She married Ralph Moore on March 6, 1955, in WaKeeney, KS. They were married 63 years until Ralph’s passing in 2018. Glenda worked with Ralph on the farm in rural Penokee, KS, taking particular pride in their cattle herd, giving each cow, calf, and bull a name. She also worked various jobs off the farm, including Keith’s Kountry Kitchen and the Western Hills Restaurant. Later, Glenda worked in the kitchen at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital for twenty years prior to retirement. In retirement, she served as a Senior Companion for long-term care in the Gold Coat program for an additional 15 years. Glenda enjoyed quilting and gardening and would share flowers, materials, and quilts with anyone who asked.
Glenda is survived by her sons, Carl Moore of Gilbert, AZ, and Eric Moore and wife Carla of Morland, KS; grandson David See, wife Rachel, and son Andrew of Scott City, KS; granddaughter Olivia Moore and son Eli of Gilbert, AZ; and great-grandson Jaden Davidson of Arizona. She is also survived by her sister Rosemary Cowan and husband Wendell of Lucas, KS; brother Ray Beach of Kansas City, MO; and sister Barbara Mace of Topeka, KS.
Glenda was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Ralph; brother, Rex Beach; daughters, Rosetta Schaefer and Patricia See; and grandson, Wesley Davidson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS, with burial at WaKeeney City Cemetery following.
