A Ransom man faces life in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting a child in 2015.

An Ellis County jury deliberated for five hours last week before finding Robert Wayne Evel guilty on all four counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, attempted rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and criminal threat.

According to court documents, all four crimes occurred between June 1, 2015, and August 31, 2015.

All four crimes also involved a child who was 10 years old at the time of the assault.

According to Ellis County Attorney Robert Anderson, Kansas sentencing statutes require Evel to be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a 25-years on three of the four charges.

Sentencing is scheduled for Monday, November 20, at 10:30 a.m.
