
William Lee “Bill” Nelson, 86, passed away on December 4, 2021, in
Norton, KS. He was born on October 26, 1935, in Jennings, KS to Lawrence
and Edna (Farris) Nelson.
Bill spent his whole life living in Jennings, KS and graduated from
Jennings High School in 1954. After high school he worked for his dad at
the Standard Gas Station in Jennings till 1968. After working at the
gas station he started working for the KDOT where he retired in 1996.
Bill married Charlotte Harold of rural Dresden in the Leoville Church on
September 9, 1958 and to that union they had two children: Ricky and
Kristy. In Bill’s spare time he loved to hunt, fish, and ride his
Yamaha motorcycle. He was also a taxidermist and master engraver.
Bill is survived by his wife, Charlotte Nelson of Jennings, KS;
Daughter, Kristy (Bill) Gawith of Lacrosse, KS; grandson, Bradley
(Wendy) Gawith; great grandchildren, Thomas and Kegan Gawith. He is
also survived by may nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill
was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ricky Nelson; brother,
Robert Nelson.
Private service will be held at a later date.
