
HUTCHINSON – The Hays High girls’ golf team closed out one of the most successful seasons in school history with a second place finish at the 5A State Golf Tournament at Carey Park. The Indians shot a 362 in Tuesday’s final round, one shot better than their 363 in Monday’s opening round.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel shot a 306 in the final round and won the team title by 89 strokes. Mill Valley placed third, 11 shots behind HHS.
Katie Dinkel shot an 84 Monday then closed with an 81 in the final round Tuesday and tied for ninth at 23-over. Taleia McCrae shot an 89 Monday and 91 Tuesday and tied for 17th with a 180.
Maize freshman Kinslea Jones shot a 72 in the final round and won the individual title at 6-over-par. Kapaun senior Katherine Tilma finished second, three back of Jones.
