👟 Tiger men enter postseason ranked 10th nationally

NEW ORLEANS - The Fort Hays State men's indoor track and field team enters the postseason ranked 10th in Division II according to the latest USTFCCCA National Rating Index, released Tuesday by the coaches association.

The Tigers have been ranked inside the top 10 in four of the five polls released this season. The FHSU men have recorded 19 different national qualifying marks this season, including 12 that rank in the top 45 in the country and four inside the top 10.

The 4x400m school-record group of Hayden AlbrightPhilip LandrumEthan Lang and Nolan Churchman still rank second in the country with a time of 3:11.10. Ryan Stanley and Jacob Clark remain tied for third in the division in the pole vault with a top clearance of 17-2.75. The distance medley relay crew of Trever Medina, Albright, Lang and Grant Bradley rank ninth in DII with their school-record time of 9:45.59.

The men rank fourth in the latest MIAA rankings and fifth in the central region, while the women are fifth in the league and 10th regionally at the end of the regular season.

Both teams feature three event squads that rank inside the top 10 in DII, including the top-ranked men's 800m unit, the second-ranked women's pentathlon team, the third-ranked men's heptathlon group, the sixth-ranked men's pole vault pack, the eighth-ranked women's 60m hurdles crew and the ninth-ranked women's 5,000m squad.

Next up for the Tigers is the 2023 MIAA Indoor Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State February 24-26.
