Rex G. Aistrup

Rex G. Aistrup, 90, died Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. 

He was born December 2, 1930, on the family farm near Bison, Kansas, the son of Tinus and Mintie (Hoofer) Aistrup. He was a graduate of Hanston High School, attended Dodge City Community College and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a longtime area resident where he farmed and worked in construction. 

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1539 both in Spearville.  He loved woodworking and made many cherished family heirlooms.

On September 5, 1959, he married Antonette "Toni" Mages at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville, Ks and settled on a farm outside of town.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Toni of the home; their 6 children, Michele Jones and husband Matt, Carollton, Texas, Katrina DeMilo and husband Chuck, Marble Head, Massachusetts, Bruce Aistrup, Lenexa, Kansas, Gary Aistrup and wife Roberta, Utica, New York, Greg Aistrup and wife Kendra, Paola, Kansas and Janell Calvin and husband John, Spearville, Kansas; a brother, Merle Aistrup and wife Dottie, Hanston, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Teresa Aistrup, Dodge City, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, Chelsea Hoelscher and husband Dillon, Kristen Jones, Audrey DeMilo, Ethan DeMilo, Jessica Pfister and husband Clinton, Meredith Kaluza and husband Andrew, Ben Aistrup, Seth Aistrup, Rachel Aistrup, Daniel Calvin, Xavier Calvin and Xander Calvin; and 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Caroline Pfister and Sage Hoelscher.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, Lyle, Guy “G.W.”, Duayne "Bud", Jack and Jerry Aistrup; 1 sister, Betty Houser and one grandson, Jack Aistrup.

Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 11, 2021, with the Funeral Mass following with Fr. Ted Stoecklein presiding both at St. John the Baptist Church, Spearville. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Spearville with military honors by American Legion District 8 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. Visitation will be held Friday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
