A couple of cloudbursts moving through Ellis County on Sunday yielded 0.78 inches of rain in Hays, according to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.
Several other brief rain showers over the three-day Memorial Day weekend yielded another 0.05 inches, for a total of 0.83 inches.
The three-day total at the Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall, was an even one inch.
The three-quarter inch amount moves Hays closer to the 3.24 inches that is the 153-year cumulative average by the end of May. As of Tuesday morning, Hays sits at 2.78 inches of rain so far this month.
With 5.05 inches of moisture measured so far this year, Hays remains well behind its average of 7.81 inches by May 31.
The three-day weather forecast calls for a chance of rain each day through Thursday.
