Hays receives more rain during weekend; forecast for hotter temps, clear skies

Hays received .52 inches of rain at the Eagle Radio student during the weekend.

Hays is above normal for rain having received. 3.53 inches of rain in the month of August compared to an average of 2.97 inches.

Hays is still below its year-to-date precipitation. According to the K-State Ag Research Center, Hays has received 16.51 inches year-to-date compared to an average of 17.57 inches as of the end of August.

The Kansas Drought Monitor will pull data Tuesday and release its latest drought map on Thursday.

As of Aug. 10, portions of Ellis County were still in exceptional drought; however, the area has received rain of varying amounts in Hays and the immediate areas since the last data was reported.

The forecast for today in Hays is for a high of 82, but temperatures are forecast to steadily climb to a high of 101 on Friday. No rain is in the forecast through Friday.
