HAYS – The TMP-Marian Lady Monarchs led wire-to-wire and had three players score in double-figures as they closed out the pre-holiday portion of their schedule with a 75-39 win over Stockton.
Sophia Balthazor scored the first field goal of the game for TMP (4-2, 3-0 MCL)` and Kassidi Yost put TMP up 4-0.
Stockton’s Olivia Dix closed the gap to two with her first field goal of the game for the Tigers (0-6, 0-3 MCL) to make it a 4-2 TMP lead, and that was as close as the game would be the rest of the way.
The Monarchs answered with a 19-4 run to end the first quarter and led 23-6 after one.
Balthazor scored 11 of her career-high 28 points in the opening frame.
The second quarter was more of the same for the Monarchs.
They opened the second period on a 15-4 run to lead 38-10 and they took a 43-18 lead into the halftime break thanks to a Megan Hamel three at the end of the first half.
The third quarter was Yost’s turn to lead the was offensively, scoring nine of her 11 points in the third period.
Hamel knocked in another three-pointer at the end of the third quarter to put TMP up 70-29.
With the running clock in the fourth quarter TMP secured a 75-39 victory, their third in-a-row.
Balthazor knocked in four three-pointers for a third straight game and led all scorers with 28 points.
Emilee Lane added 13 points and eight rebounds and Kassidi Yost chipped in 11 points.
The Monarchs are off until Friday, Jan. 7 against Sacred Heart.
