Leo Arlan Sample, 80, passed away on February 5, 2022, in Hoxie, Ks. He was born April 9, 1941, to Benjamin Leslie Sample and Dorothy (Epler) Sample. Leo was raised along with his four siblings in the Tasco and Studley areas of Sheridan County. Leo graduated from Sheridan Community High School in 1958. He was in the Army July 1961 through April 1963.
Leo married Eileen Dicks at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hoxie, Ks on September 12, 1964. They had two daughters, Debra and Dianne. Leo worked for the Sheridan County Road Department, Hoxie Redi Mix,
and Hoxie Grade School as well as some farming. Leo will forever be remembered for his hard work and love for his granddaughters, Jenna and Kayla. His crossword puzzle and mental math skills were admired, and his family will always remember the good times playing cards and marbles.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lyle Sample and Leon Sample, and sister Doris Jean Rachau.
Leo is survived by wife Eileen Sample; daughters: Deb Micek (Tim) and Dianne Wyrick (Mike). grandchildren: Jenna Wyrick (Tyler Samuelson) and Kayla Wyrick; sister: Donna McClain; sister-in-law Barb Sample; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.
On Saturday, March 5th, the family will greet friends and family at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie from 12 to1:45 PM with a graveside service to follow at 2 at the Hoxie City Cemetery.
